National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is our Indian government sector public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the government of India. NSS was launched in 1969. The motto of the NSS is “Not me but you’. NSS was launched on the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi in 1969. NSS started in 37 universities involving 40000 students. The NSS symbol is based on the ‘Rath’ wheel of the Konark Sun Temple situated in Odisha.
The broad or main objectives of the National Service Scheme are to:
(i) Understand the community in which the work,
(ii) Understand themselves in relation to their community,
(iii) Identify the needs and problems of community,
(iv) Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
‘Education through service’ is the purpose of NSS. The ideology of the NSS is inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. Therefore, student youth, teachers and the community are considered the three basic components of the National Service Scheme.
Objective of the National Service Scheme unit of Teachers’ Training College
The main objective of the National Service Scheme unit of Teachers’ Training College, Bhagalpur is spreading awareness of different social, educational and community issues. Our NSS unit aims to work for the betterment of society. NSS volunteers of Teachers’ Training College, Bhagalpur work on a different social, health, educational, moral, spiritual issues.
Teachers’ Training College organizes awareness activities and different programmes such as cleanliness drive, women’s education, mask distribution in covid period, tree plantation, awareness of health, International Yoga Day, awareness of girl child education, Republic Day, Independence Day, Teacher’s Day, awareness of voter, World Environment Day, Human Rights Day, etc.
